Here's a little bit about us.
The sound that ANGELS ON HIGH produces has been described as heavenly, even though these women would hardly describe themselves as angelic!
Joani Bye, Linda Kidder and Janet Warren are all veterans of the music business with their careers spanning four decades. The gamut of their experiences includes studio session work, live performance, theatre, television, songwriting, choral direction and adjudication, vocal coaching, workshops and arrangements.
ANGELS ON HIGH will tailor both their repertoire and their visual presentation to your event requirements whether it's an intimate gathering, corporate event, or anything in between. These angels will thrill you with their beautiful renditions of traditional Carols and innovative arrangements of contemporary Christmas songs.
Joani Bye has been wowing audiences as a singer, musician and entertainer for many years, performing on T.V., radio, concert and theatre stages and in nightclubs. As one of Vancouver's top studio singers, Joani's powerful voice has been heard on albums by some of the music industry's most popular artists such as Cher, David Bowie, INXS and Jon Bon Jovi, to name a few, as well as on countless commercial jingles. She has performed on stage with the likes of Sheena Easton, Del Shannon and Mellissa Manchester. Her current projects range from theatre, appearing in Jupiter Production's Cruisin With the Boomers to fronting her R&B band the Homewreckers and writing arrangements for several local choral groups. Even with concert tours, school shows, theatre, club work, sessions, song-writing and arranging, tennis, yoga and her family, Joani still finds lots of time to laugh.
Linda Kidder has garnered three International gold and platinum records for her work with kd lang in addition to the eight wins for the CMA and BCCMA country duo of the year, with Gary Fjellgaard, a BCCMA nomination for vocalist and bass player of the year and a Juno nomination for country duo of the year. Her voice can be heard on studio and live recordings from kd lang, Rita MacNeil, Bon Jovi to Barbie and more. She has toured extensively throughout the Canada, US and Europe with kd langs Ingenue tour, Gary Fjellgaard, opened for George Jones, performed at Margaret Atwoods, Year of the Flood and shared stages with Bob Hope, Ian Tyson and Michelle Wright. Linda writes and records personalized songs for any kind of event, or celebration. Linda has 3 solo CDs, Mom and Me, Close to Bliss and For My Darling Betty, written and performed the music for Coming Unbuttoned, featuring the works of poet James Broughton. Musical theatre productions include Baby Boomer Blues, Sweet and Hot, Old, New, Borrowed and Blue, Cruisin with the Boomers and her own one woman show, Mr. Moon.
Jan Warren, known nationally for her 35 years of work as a choral director, has enjoyed some recent opportunities for solo work that include Jazz Vespers at St. Andrews Wesley Church in Vancouver; background vocals for Monique Creber (Magic of Christmas, A Carpenters Christmas) and Don Stewart; and featured solos on A Time to Heal, a CD project for homeless people in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside with other Vancouver artists. Jan's choral expertise has given her the opportunity to conduct Honour Choirs in Japan, Shanghai, and across Canada; she has been awarded by the British Columbia Music Educators Association, the Sylvan Learning Center, and the British Columbia Choral Federation. Her first taste of theatre was as a crew member for Cruisin' with the Boomers in 2012-13, and she will be seen in the upcoming revue Songs from the Attic with Jupiter Productions. Dragonboating and three grand-daughters keep Jan busy when not singing!
